As I look at my body in the mirror, I see scars. From my dialysis port. From my chemo port. From my stoma. From the open surgeries. At first, they were upsetting. While they aren’t pretty now, I have a whole new appreciation of them. Each one made it’s mark on me, and will be an ongoing testimony to survival.
